Safe to Create Code of Behaviour
An important announcement that I've added my signatory to the Safe to Create Code of Behaviour.
All arts and creative spaces in the country, and everyone who employs artists, arts workers and creatives, must ensure their spaces are safe.
An important announcement that I've added my signatory to the Safe to Create Code of Behaviour.
Every employer has a legal responsibility to ensure that the workplace, including work-related social events, afford respect and dignity to everyone, regardless of their employment status. Clear protocols and policies should be in place specifying the responsibilities and behaviour expected of everyone in the arts and creative workplace, including in relation to respect and dignity in the workplace, and, in particular, policies that deal with harmful behaviours including bullying, harassment, sexual harassment, victimisation, and discrimination.
By signing it, I am ensuring as someone who organises, runs, facilitate and collaborate with other individuals/organisations, it's safe for everyone.
If you want to find out more about Safe to Create, their site has toolkits and resources if you find yourself seeking help and training.
Through the Safe to Create programme, we are looking to transform culture and practices through training, information, voluntary compliance and certification, and provide key support for victims / survivors in the areas of reporting, counselling, and legal advice.
It's an amazing initiative and if you are in the creative and arts sector, I highly recommend you (and the organisation) to check it out, get informed, and add your signatory to it.
